Inspiration

Here are a few things that inspire me.

The band OK Go is an incredible band that combines the sound of their music with a visual experience. They create the most intelligent videos and are what it means to be a diverse artist.

Author Janet Fitch is an artist with words. My first experience reading her work was White Oleander. Every word has a purpose and I think that is important in any work we do.

"The Santa Anas blew in hot from the desert, shriveling the last of the spring grass into whiskers of pale straw. Only the oleanders thrived, their delicate poisonous blooms, their dagger green leaves." - Janet Fitch White Oleander

Painter Sandro Botticelli's The Birth of Venus was my first introduction to the Renaissance era of art. I thought this was just a unique and magnificent painting and this helped me become more interested in all things art related.

Alphonse Mucha. The Arts- Dance. 1898. Color lithograph. 60 x 38 cm. SCAD Digital Image Database.

Alphonse Mucha. Reverie. 1897. Color lithograph. Kunstmuseum. Hamburg, Germany. SCAD Digital Image Database.

Czech Republic artist, Alphonse Mucha is known for his posters and advertisements, his work was my first introduction to the style of Art Nouveau. His work  caught my eye with his way of portraying these strong women decorated with colorful floral and delicately designed backgrounds as seen in The Arts- Dance and Reverie. His combination of beauty and nature is truly inspiring.
